Gregory S. Wales, Doctor of Forensic Sciences (DFS), has had a federal law enforcement career spanning over 40 years of combined military and federal service. He retired as a Special Agent – Digital Forensic Examiner from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Inspector General's Computer Crimes Unit's Digital Forensic Laboratory in Lakewood, Colorado. His previous federal investigative work included several years as a Special Agent – Computer Crime Investigator with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
Wales's forensic examinations between the two agencies covered a broad range of areas in the criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence arenas. He has over 27 years of experience in digital forensic science and 13 years of experience in multimedia forensic science. Wales holds a DFS degree and a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology from Oklahoma State University School of Forensic Sciences. He holds a Master of Science in Recording Arts with an emphasis in Media Forensics from the University of Colorado at Denver's National Center for Media Forensics. Dr. Wales holds a Master of Science degree in Digital Forensic Sciences and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Forensics and Digital Investigations from Champlain College. Dr. Wales is a part-time lecturer at the University of Colorado at Denver's National Center for Media Forensics. In addition, he is on the editorial board of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences’ Journal of Forensic Sciences.
