Illustration
at CU Denver has been recognized by Animation Career Review as a top
national program. Traditional, conceptual, and technology based
education combine for dynamic course work that includes "Anatomy for the
Artist," "Digital Painting," "Graphic Novel Workshop," and "Typography
Studio," preparing students for successful careers in a multitude of
fields, including illustration, marketing, healthcare, engineering, and entertainment.

The profession spans a wide range of applications, encompassing graphic novels, scientific illustration, medical illustration, visual development for animation and games, children’s books, interactive illustration, and anything a talented illustrator can bring to life. The field includes editorial, advertising, and product illustration. Given the vast array of opportunities, today’s illustrators understand how to communicate effectively with a chosen medium and situate their work professionally within a particular market.
