The Colorado High School Film Festival is back for year three in 2026! The festival is an opportunity for high school filmmakers to showcase their films and win prizes. This year, we are excited to partner with the Colorado Scholastic Art Awards. Through this partnership, Colorado students can submit films through the Scholastic Arts application portal to qualify for both the Scholastic Arts film awards and the CU Denver Colorado High School Film Festival.
The deadline to apply is January 6, 2026.
We are still accepting films for the Colorado High School Film Festival from high school filmmakers outside of the state of Colorado. Students from outside of Colorado can apply using our festival page on the FilmFreeway website.
Twenty films will be selected to as official selections to the Colorado High Shcool Film Festival. Each of these finanalist will receive a $300 scholarships to attend our 2026 LYNX Camp Filmmaking Program. The LYNX Camps are summer camp programs for high school students. The camps are taught by CU Denver College of Arts & Media (CAM) faculty and are great previews of our CAM college degree programs.
These twenty films will screen at the Colorado High School Film Festival. There will be additional prizes for the top three films including film gear. The top three finanalists will be invited to attend the CU Denver Cinefest Film Festival and the top film will screen at Cinefest.
