Ashell Fox '21 Receives Prestigious Graduate Studies Scholarship
Recording Arts Grad Will Continue Studies at CU Denver
Jul 7, 2021The Audio Engineering Society (AES) has awarded the AES Educational Foundation Scholarship to Ashell Fox ’21 for graduate studies in the CU Denver Master of Science Recording Arts (MSRA) program. The highly competitive scholarship is designated for students, such as Fox, who are committed to entering the field of audio engineering.
As an undergraduate in the College of Arts & Media, curiosity and passion led Fox to be an inquisitive and determined student, researcher, and audio engineer. His ardent interest in sound design brought him to CU Denver from Baja, Mexico, where he enrolled to study recording arts. As stand-out student, Fox dove into research with professor Cecilia Wu, developing a sound design curriculum that taps into vast technology and untapped career opportunities in fields such as music, movies, and television. Their work continues to earn credibility and respect within the audio and sound recording industry.
The prestigious scholarship has previously been awarded to two CU Denver recording arts faculty–– Wu, as a Ph.D. student at University of California Santa Barbara, and Sam McGuire, an MSRA graduate of CU Denver.
