Mentorship at CU Denver

Where mentors gain valuable professional development and leadership skills, and mentees develop connections with allies who can provide extra academic guidance and social support.

The Mentor Collective

How it Works

Students and mentors will be matched based on common interests, including field of study, background, and professional aspirations. To get started, you'll register and complete an online survey to assess personality and experience.

What do mentors and mentees discuss?

  • How to get involved at CAM
  • How will my major impact my professional options?
  • How do I balance the demands of school, responsibilities, and socializing?
  • How can I set myself up for academic, social, and career success?
  • How do I make connections with peers and professional contacts?

CAM Mentorship Programs

FYE Mentorship:

Incoming CAM students are paired with an upper class student who will serve as a peer mentor. This one-on-one relationship guides new students to succeed at CAM with the help of a peer with first-hand experience. Mentors will share advice and welcome new students to the university, while also building their professional networks and developing skills to become better leaders.

Career Mentorship:

Upperclassmen CAM students are paired with a CAM alumni in a similar field of interest. This one-on-one relationship guides our current CAM students in preparing them to enter the world of work. Mentors will share advice and build the students' professional networks.

Mentors, share this experience as leadership!

Many mentors choose to share their mentoring experience as part of their resume and/or on LinkedIn. You’re more than welcome to do that as well, if you haven’t already!

“I have personally benefited from the help of some great mentors both in my personal life and academic/career life. At my first real job after college I was assigned a mentor on my first day that has been nothing but supportive and helpful to me as I embarked on a new journey. Mentorship has been a very valuable asset to my life and career so far. I believe it is my duty to also give back like the mentors who have been part of my success so far.“  - Mentor
“My mentor has been an amazing help in my life, he makes me realize and see things more clearly. Sometimes it's in front of your face but can't see until someone puts it into words for you.”  - Mentee
