ABOUT FILM & TELEVISION

Film & Television at CU Denver hands-on experience in screenwriting, editing, camera operation, acting, and storytelling. Guided by industry professionals, students work on short films, web series, documentaries, digital effects, and TV production. This immersive cohort program prepares students for real-world film and TV careers, developing both technical skills and teamwork through collaborative projects in a professional environment.

Students choose from two program emphasis tracks:

Career Paths in Film & Television

CU Denver Film & Television alumni are making waves in the industry, from careers at NBCUniversal to winning prestigious Academy Awards. Whether working as independent filmmakers, corporate communications specialists, in post-production studios, as documentary makers, or with major TV stations and networks, our graduates are thriving in every corner of the industry.

Students in the program graduate with a robust professional portfolio, featuring personal film projects and collaborative work, including a web series recognized at the L.A. Web Series Festiva and senior thesis work that had landed major film festival screenings. Many graduates have earned Emmy Award nominations and gained international recognition for their work in television, film, and documentaries. Alumni excel as writers, producers, actors, and agents, showcasing the program's comprehensive career preparation.

How to Apply

All students interested in pursuing the Film & Television degree must first be admitted to CU Denver. Once admitted, there is a secondary application required for the Film & Television Program applicants.
