National Center for Media Forensics

Facts lie right in front of us like puzzle pieces waiting to be put together. The National Center for Media Forensics at CU Denver provides a world class programs dedicated to the scientific study and research of the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of audio, video, and image evidence obtained during investigations and litigious proceedings.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television

Degree Earned: BFA Film & Television at CU Denver is a hands-on opportunity to write the script, operate the camera, edit the film, and tell the story. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students work on a variety of projects, including short films, web series’, documentaries, digital effects, and TV studio production.

Master of Science in Media Forensics

Degree Earned: MSPrepares students from various backgrounds for work in the field of forensic audio, video, and image analysis using the state-of-the-art methods and technology necessary to fight crime in the digital age.

Master of Science in Recording Arts

Degree Earned: MS 

Refine skills in sound recording, aesthetics, multi-track recording, digital signal processing, automated mixing, synchronization, stereo imaging and monitoring, mastering and post-production.

2D & Trad Animation Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The Traditional Animation Minor teaches fundamentals through advanced 2D and traditional animation principles. This minor is devoted to learning and understanding 2D and traditional animation techniques and tools, including timing, spacing, and character movement.

 


 

 

Art History Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The art history minor familiarizes students with the principal traditions of art history and includes a selection of lecture courses in advanced studies. This program provides a strong introduction to historical developments while developing analytical skills in research, writing and visual culture.

Digital Design Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The digital design minor integrates creative thinking with experience using digital applications in the production of graphic design and motion graphics.

Film and Television Production Minor

Degree Earned: Minor This minor gives students a hands-on experience in both production and post-production, providing a foundation of basic skills and procedures in the film and television industry.

Film and Television Writing Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Students develop the writing skills (fiction and non-fiction) for the development of episodic television and film scripts. Students also learn the practices and mechanics expected of professional screenwriters.


Game Art Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Modern game aesthetics and design engage and connect the player to a virtual world, creating deeper emotional connections to the characters and influencing choices the player will make as a participant in the story. Students that participate in the Game Art minor will learn to craft virtual worlds through the study of narrative, art, virtual cinematography, character design, and environmental design

Illustration Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The illustration minor is for students interested in broadening their visual communication skills and obtaining an introductory understanding of what is involved in the production of client-driven visual work.

Music Industry Studies Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Provides students with a strong foundation in the functional operations of the music industry by providing in-depth knowledge of music marketing, artist management, concert promotion and music publishing.

Painting and Drawing Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The painting and drawing minor is for students interested in broadening their skills in the production of painterly and hand-drawn works of art.

Performance for Film and TV Minor

Degree Earned: Minor An introductory education and practical experience in the art of on-camera performance. Through guidance from faculty, students will be instructed on methods of acting for various types of film and television projects. This will include fiction, non-fiction, voice work and understanding on how an actor works with directors, camera crews, and audio personnel. Students may also have opportunities to perform in student film productions produced within the department.

Photography Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Students in the photography minor develop a broad range of technical and conceptual skills that expand their knowledge of image-making.

General Music Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Combining elements of curriculum from the areas of Performance, Music Business, Recording Arts and Singer Songwriter.

Studio Art Minor

Degree Earned: Minor This general minor in studio art offers students the opportunity to explore creative studio practice in one or multiple areas (e.g., photography, transmedia sculpture, painting and drawing) along with an introduction to art history.

Transmedia Sculpture Minor

Degree Earned: Minor The transmedia sculpture minor provides experiences that span digital practice, traditional metal casting, mold making, wood work and fabrication processes.

 


 

Virtual Production Minor

Degree Earned: Minor Examine the role of the artist in virtual production, motion pictures, television, game design, and new media both from a theoretical and practical perspective. Students will learn what contributes to the storytelling process and how to identify these contributions when engaged in an immersive experience, watching a movie,television, playing a game, or streaming internet content.
