The value of relationships that I learned in [a cappella] ensembles prepared me to be able to work with some of the world’s most esteemed thought-leaders. - Michelle Rocqet, M.A.
An endowment is in reach and we need your help to achieve it. By raising $25,000, the College of Arts & Media can ensure scholarships for vocal students in perpetuity. Thanks to the generosity of Douglas A. and Sandy L. Tashiro, we are very close to funding this endowment. With your help, we can support vocal students whether they are just beginning their musical journeys or finishing their degrees.
CU Denver’s Music & Entertainment Industry Studies is home to three a cappella groups for students of varying vocal skill levels. Within these groups, students develop their abilities while conquering challenges.
CU Denver’s a cappella groups give students the opportunity to compete in vocal competitions locally, nationally, and internationally, helping them create a network that will serve them long after their time at CU Denver. To date, CU Denver's a cappella groups have competed at competitions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and claimed over 18 awards.
At CU Denver, vocal students of diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to prepare for a future utilizing their vocal skills. Our graduates go on to work in the music and entertainment industries, producing, performing, and promoting music. Some even go on to start their own businesses. Whatever field they end up in, vocal training is foundational to their training.
