Liza teaches Introduction to Theatre & Arts in the Community, Drama of Diversity and World Theatre for the Department of Film and Television.

She spent 10 years working at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA, and freelanced in New York as a Lighting Designer, Stage Manager, Production Manager, and Director, including tours in Europe and the US.

In Colorado, she has designed and directed for several theater companies. She has also taught at Colorado State, Naropa University, CU Boulder, The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, The University of Iowa, Plymouth State University in NH and Marlboro College in Vermont.

Liza has an MFA in Theater Directing from the University of Iowa and a PhD in Theater History, Theory and Criticism from CU Boulder. Her research specialty is the depiction of addiction in theatre and media, in addition to broader themes of stereotyping and the media’s influence on public perception.
