Every year the College of Arts & Media community looks forward to the capstone projects completed and presented by our graduating students. This year, the Visual Arts department has three separate events planned in conjunction with their graduating students’ thesis work.
Each spring, in tandem with the Visual Arts Thesis Exhibition at RedLine Contemporary Art Center, the College of Arts & Media (CAM) organizes a panel with six alumni representing each of the visual art department's programs: Art Practices (Painting & Drawing/Transmedia Sculpture), Photography, Digital Animation, Digital Design, Art History, and Illustration. CAM faculty nominate past students to represent their areas as graduates working professionally with careers and life experience that inspire.
CAM asks visual arts alumni to come back to speak to current students about the career paths and creative decisions they’ve made and to share experiences, professional and personal, since graduating from CU Denver. The intention is to help prepare current undergraduates for the transition between school and career.
Visual Arts Thesis Events
This year’s panel is scheduled for Tuesday 29th April from 5pm till 7pm. Current students are encouraged to attend as this panel is for them. Alumni, faculty, staff, and the broader community are also invited. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see thesis projects created by CAM’s graduating visual arts students, which will be on display at the RedLine Contemporary Arts Center. The exhibition will be on display from April 26 – May 10, 2025, with a closing reception and celebration scheduled for May 8th from 5 – 8 pm.
In addition to the alumni panel and thesis exhibition taking place at RedLine, graduating students from CAM’s Art History and 3D Graphics & Animation programs will be presenting their senior projects at the SIE FilmCenter on May 7, 2025 from 6 – 9 pm. Animation students will screen their shorts and art history students will present give presentations on their thesis projects.
