Florence Young

Assistant Professor
  • Film & Television

Florence is a professional actor whose TV credits include roles in "True Detective," "Hap and Leonard," "Salem," and "Claws." As a lifetime member of the Actors Studio, Florence has had the opportunity to participate in ongoing training and workshops and to learn from many veteran actors. Her training is rooted in Method Acting but also strongly influenced by Meisner and more physical approaches such as Mask and Clown work. In 2012 she founded The NOLA Actors Lab in New Orleans and was voted Louisiana’s top acting coach by Backstage Magazine in 2015.

As an independent filmmaker, Florence finds all aspects of storytelling compelling -- from driving a grip truck, designing a set, to working on a camera team. She continues her creative practice as an actor and filmmaker by auditioning for professional television and film projects regularly, and coaching working actors. As a member of Filmshop, she maintains her connection to a filmmaking community and continues to develop personal film projects.
