The College of Arts & Media (CAM) at CU Denver is proud to recognize four Outstanding Graduates for Fall 2024. Students, Rowan Petersen, Denis Sullivan, Madisyn Walker, and Lillie Wesley, have each distinguished themselves through their dedication, professional accomplishments, exemplifying the creative spirit that defines CAM.
Music Business student Denis Sullivan has been recognized as an Outstanding Graduate for his drive and passion for the music industry. This summer, he interned with Republic Records' A&R team in New York City, gaining experience in artist discovery and high-level project management. Outside the classroom, Denis manages a band and actively builds his professional network, preparing for a career in artist management or booking.
“My favorite memories at CU Denver all come from the incredible events hosted by student-run organizations,” Denis shared, reflecting on his college experience. He credits professors Andy Rok, Matthew O’Brien, and Dan Hodges for their mentorship.
Outstanding Graduate, MEIS Recording Arts student Madisyn Walker, stands out for her exceptional work ethic and enthusiasm for her craft. Her favorite memory was recording foley in the surround sound studio, an experience that cemented her confidence in her abilities. Madisyn credits Assistant Professor Cecelia Wu for her support during a challenging time, noting, “She believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself.”
After graduation, Madisyn plans to pursue video game sound design and explore opportunities in mixing, sound tech, and performing her own bass music.
Recognized for his cutting-edge artistry and creative versatility, Recording Arts student Rowan Petersen is multi-talented artist and one-half of the duo The Peasantry. Named as an Outstanding Graduate, Rowan has grown into a poet, vocalist, and fiction writer, thanks in part to mentorship from Assistant Professor Dango Rose.
“Without Dango’s guidance, I wouldn’t have created the music that now shapes my future,” Rowan said. Post-graduation, Rowan plans to pursue editing and producing for broadcast and podcasts while continuing to perform live with The Peasantry.
Illustration student Lillie Wesley has earned acclaim for her creativity and dedication. Her senior thesis, Sad Bear, exemplifies her skill, as she took the children’s book from manuscript to final illustrations. Lillie credits her work at Emmanuel Art Gallery and mentorship from Jeff Lambson and Andrew Palamara as formative experiences.
Looking ahead, Lillie plans to combine her art with a psychology master’s degree to pursue a career in art therapy.
Congratulations to CAM’s Outstanding Graduates on their achievements and bright futures!
