Jess Waggoner is a graduate of the CU Denver Recording Arts Program, class of 2020. They specialize in live sound reinforcement, studio production, and sound design for theatre. Jess is currently the Assistant Director of AV at Temple Emanuel Denver. As an educator, Jess has years of experience teaching music to students ages 6-68 both online and in person. They have taught group art and dance classes, audio engineering classes for teens, and private lessons on violin and viola for all ages. As a sound designer, Jess has worked with companies such as Equinox, Vintage, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and Local Theatre Company. In 2019, they won BroadwayWorld Denver’s award for Best Sound Design of a Musical.As a front of house engineer, Jess has worked at a plethora of local venues varying from dive bars and breweries to concert halls and dance festivals. They own a production company, Jessica Jewell Sound, which has the mission to mentor the next generation of diverse live sound engineers. Jess aims to provide experiences to people who don’t normally get their hands on the sound boards due to various barriers to entry such as economic barriers, sexism, racism, and ableism. As a studio engineer, Jess does recording, mixing, mastering, dialogue editing, and composing. They also produce a podcast called Travesty Hall from their home studio. Jess has also worked at Tenderdyn Arts, one of the first Dolby Atmos music and film studios in Colorado.
