Charity Chapman

Part-Time Lecturer
  • Music and Entertainment Studies (CAM)

From a young age, Charity belted out tunes from her kitchen table in Fort Collins, CO. In high school she expanded her audience beyond her reluctant family members, starring in musicals, which landed her a vocal performance scholarship at Pepperdine University, in Malibu, CA. She received her B.A. in Applied Music and caught the attention of a talent agent and gained success as a singer-songwriter in LA. Charity was booked in noted industry incubators for emerging talent, “Genghis Cohen”, “Hollywood & Highland”, “The Mint” and others. She opened for “Buckethead” and was selected by ASCAP as one of 13 songwriters to participate in the “Lester Sills Songwriting Workshop". Shortly after, she wrote her debut album, “Butterflies with Chainsaws”and landed an opening spot on the Second Stage at Five Points Amphitheater, opening for Sheryl Crow and Pink. Her song, “If I Could Fly” captured the attention of the “X Factor”, where it became the theme song in the UK and the US. She has tunes playing on CBS, Netflix, Amazon and international films and more. Charity is loving working with the fabulous writers at CU!
